This is a sister painting to a work called Combed. I made this upcycling a piece of a painting cloth. I gessoed over it and then used a dried-out pen to etch these lines on the canvas. Due to the nature of the recycled cloth, it has warped on the sides a little bit, but I think it adds to it.
I was initially inspired by nerves as I’ve made some paintings about those before, but with the sister painting Combed, I was also inspired by pubes, haha. Of course, they are quite abstract.
