Inspiration: This work is the first of a series of several editions. Inspired by nature, architecture, as well as arts in general, I am fascinated by the weird and poetic. This series explores shapes textures and colors, using different glazes and clay.
Story/ Process: These creatures oscillates on the weird – poetic spectrum. Cute, odd they seem weirdly familiar. They were born out of the frustrating feeling of the blank page. Unable to start something for another project I started doing one, then two, then six. Without realizing it, making them allowed me to get out of my block. Now they keep company to my plants, as plant pets! They are all made by hand with recycled clay. The title is a french word, meaning “funny”, “bizarre, weird, surprising” as well as “kids” in the French South-West.
Themes: monstruous, intimate, domesticity, weird, strange, poetic, feminism
About the artist: The artist is a French master student studying architecture at Aalto. Interested in everything related to handicrafts and arts, the artist practices woodcut, photography, drawing, ceramic, mending, sewing, paper making, and more generally is interested in anything that can be made by hand.
